The Shylee Smiles Foundation is proud to present its first annual Smiles for Miles Charity 10K, 5K and Fun Run to raise funds and awareness for families of the Shoals area battling cancer. We look forward to seeing you on race day! Let’s run for a reason and smile for miles!

FAQs

• Where do I get my packet?

  Early Packet Pickup for the Race will be held at Coldwell Banker on Friday, August 29th.

• Are t-shirts included with registration?

  Yes, if you register before the t-shirt deadline your exclusive race tee in the size you order is 100% guaranteed! Race T-shirt design will be announced closer to race day!

• When is the deadline to register and be guaranteed a t-shirt?

  End of day August 22nd, 2025. After the deadline, shirts will be available in limited quantities/sizes as you register and can be selected while you check out on a first-come, first-served basis while inventory lasts.

• Are there medals?

  Yes! Prizes and awards will be handed out for the 10K and 5K. The top overall female and male runners, and top overall Masters (40+) and GrandMasters (60+) divisions. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals are awarded to the top three female and male finishers in each of the 10-year age groups.

• What are the age groups?

  0-12

  13-19

• I'd like to participate. Can I just walk?

  Absolutely! We always have people who want to walk, so you will not be alone! 

• I'm part of a group that's running together. Can I pick up everyone's bib?

  Yes! All you’ll need is their full name and everyone will be ready to Smile for Miles on Race Day!

• Is there parking?

  This location has plenty of nearby parking at the Florence Mall at no cost.

• Can my dog come?

  Yes! Well-socialized and leashed dogs are welcome at the back of the pack.

• Are strollers welcomed?

  Yes, strollers are welcome at the back of the pack. If you are running for a competitive time, please inform us on race day morning so we can add an offset to your start time to account for the  distance to the START line.

• Are bikes, hoverboards, scooters, skateboards, push bikes, unicycles or wagons allowed on the course?

  We’re sorry, but only runners, joggers, walkers, baby strollers/joggers, restrained pets and wheelchairs are allowed.

• Are the 10K and 5K courses timed and USATF-certified?

  Yes! All distance races will be RFID Chip Timed using USA Track & Field Certificated Courses: AL18027JE AL18026JE

• Do the courses have hills?

  There are some small hills in the course, but nothing challenging above a 10% grade 

• Where do the race proceeds go?

  This is a charity event, with proceeds for the benefit of the Shylee Smiles Foundation and their supported causes.

• What if I can't be there in person, can I still get involved?

  Yes! You can donate to the Shylee Smiles Foundation through our Race Participant Registration or through the Shylee Smiles Donation Only registration option.
